Compare Quokka
Honest side-by-sides, including the cases where the alternative is the better choice and you shouldn’t use Quokka at all.
What actually decides whether one of these apps survives
Most family chore and screen-time apps are abandoned inside a fortnight. Having tested the category and read a lot of parent post-mortems, the failure is almost never the feature list — it’s one of these five:
- Does enforcement happen without a parent in the loop? A limit that depends on someone noticing the clock collapses on a tired Tuesday. On iPhone this means Apple’s Family Controls doing the shielding, not the app asking nicely.
- Can the child earn, or only lose? Purely restrictive tools give kids one lever — persuasion — so you get nightly negotiation and a hunt for workarounds.
- Is the payout fast and reliable? Rewards a child has to chase stop motivating almost immediately.
- Does setup fit in one sitting? Anything needing a weekend never gets finished.
- What does it cost, and does it charge per child? Per-child pricing punishes exactly the families who need it most.
Every comparison below is judged on those, and each one says plainly when the alternative wins.
